Understand your recording before you rely on it.
A recording can help document what happened. The Watch does not certify every file as unmodified or guarantee that a court will admit it.
Time and location are context
Recordings are associated with time information and, when available and permitted, location information. Device settings, GPS accuracy, and connectivity can affect that context. These details are not a certified chain of custody or independent proof that a file is authentic.
From your phone to your account
The app captures video or audio using your device's supported recording features and permissions. Uploads place saved files in account-linked storage. A file may still be on the device or waiting in an upload queue; confirm saving completed before assuming a cloud copy exists.
Private means access-controlled, not an unlimited promise
Private recordings use account-based access controls. Sharing settings and authorized access determine who may view them. We do not describe all recordings as end-to-end encrypted or promise that the operator cannot comply with a lawful data request.
If a phone is taken, lost, or offline
Only footage that successfully reached storage may remain available from another device. Unfinished local footage and interrupted uploads are not guaranteed to be recovered. Recording, uploading, and alert delivery are separate operations; success at one does not prove success at the others.
Keep the original and ask a qualified lawyer
Preserve original files and related context. Editing, reposting, or transcoding can change the file or its metadata. Recording laws and court requirements vary by jurisdiction; consult a qualified lawyer for your situation. This page is not legal advice.
Alerts are not emergency dispatch
Prepare contacts and consent before an emergency. Alerts require a connection and can be affected by provider availability, recipients' settings, and consent. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services; call 911 in the United States.
Questions, answered plainly
What if my phone is taken or lost?
Recordings that completed uploading may be available from your account. An unfinished recording or upload is not guaranteed to be recoverable. Check that saving completed before relying on a cloud copy.
Can alerts or uploads work offline?
Private recording depends on your device, permissions, and available storage. Uploads and alert delivery need a network connection. Recipient consent, device settings, and provider availability also affect delivery; alerts are not guaranteed to arrive.
Where are recordings stored, and who can access them?
Uploaded recordings are associated with your account. Private recordings use account-based access controls; sharing changes who can view them. The privacy policy explains storage, data processing, and legal disclosures. We do not promise that the operator can never access or disclose data.
What does a subscription pay for?
The free plan includes four Panic activations per calendar month (UTC), private recording, and community access. A subscription enables further Panic activations and supports app operations and customer support. The Watch pledges 6% of annual subscription proceeds toward community support; that is not a report of completed donations. Legal representation is not included or guaranteed.
How do cancellation and refunds work?
Subscriptions renew at the selected price unless canceled. Manage cancellation through the provider used for purchase: Stripe on the web, or Apple App Store or Google Play for store purchases. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically refund previous charges. Refund requests follow the applicable provider and published terms. No seven-day trial or money-back guarantee is offered here.
