Program: The Watch App LLC Panic SMS (The Watch, Your Safety Circle)
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Program description
The Watch – Your Safety Circle sends automated Panic emergency SMS alerts to opted-in designated emergency contacts and response administrators when a member activates the Panic button. Alerts may include the member's name, incident type, available location, permitted medical information, and map or live-view links. This program does not send marketing messages or login verification codes.
How to opt in
Use the public guest consent page to grant or revoke for your own North American mobile number without an account or app, or use the member consent form to save an account preference. The guest flow requires an initially unchecked agreement for a grant and, for either action, separate initially unchecked permission for a one-time verification SMS. Consent is saved only after code verification. Requesting a code does not activate alerts. Adding someone as an emergency contact does not subscribe them.
Consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase or account creation. Each recipient, including administrators, must opt in independently. Changing your number requires fresh consent. Numbers shared across accounts are not eligible for the member option. Legacy member grants are self-attested and do not establish phone possession. Provider STOP blocks remain in force.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on Panic events for which you are a designated recipient. There is no fixed daily or monthly message schedule.
Message and data charges
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's messaging and data charges may apply to messages sent or received. Contact your carrier about your plan.
STOP — opt out
Reply STOP to the sending number to cancel SMS messages. You can also verify your number and revoke on our public consent page, or use “Revoke SMS consent” on the member form, to stop future Panic SMS attempts after saving. A message already in transit may still arrive. Website consent does not override a messaging-provider STOP block. SMS opt-out does not disable phone calls, push notifications, or email alerts.
HELP — support
Reply HELP for messaging help. For program or account support, email Watchful_citizen1@thewatchapp.org.
Privacy
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all data-sharing categories in our Privacy Policy, except as needed to deliver the messages you requested. Service providers may process this information only to operate and deliver those messages.
Read our full Privacy Policy.
Delivery and emergency limitations
Delivery depends on carrier availability, network conditions, and messaging activation. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SMS is supplemental and does not guarantee emergency assistance. Call 911 in an emergency.
